I am SO HAPPY to be back in one of my favourite places with my favourite people, that I could probably weep from the sheer joy of it. I had forgotten the very great pleasure of being somewhere so entirely different: the cicadas that chirrup at night in the dry, olive-scented air; the sea curling over white-sand beaches; the tangle of love that is swimming with my children; the warm, sun-baked pages of a book on a sun lounger; a frosted glass of rose at the incomparably lovely golden hour; the closeness you feel to those you love without the fevered distractions of normal life; the clarity of mind it brings. So, whilst today i content myself with cheerfully co-ordinating with the pool, when I am old (should I be so lucky as to have the privilege of age), I shall close my eyes and conjure these halcyon days, and this state of happiness.
