I am always fascinated by the different ways that the locals around the world modify their vehicles to most efficiently navigate the off-road terrain. Down here in South America, the 4x4 Toyotas are the most popular canvases. This shot was taken the last time that I saw ‘society,’ before we headed out into the wild. A convoy of these modified rigs got our crew + gear through some of the most gnarly, muddy jungle terrain I’ve ever seen- including several window-deep river crossings. It’s the rainy season down here in Guyana, so there’s no guarantee that if you cross a river or floodplain that you’ll be able to go back the same way anytime soon.
