Been a bit busy moving, studying, and getting ready for fellowship - but I promised a summer series so here’s a nice long one for ya. With a bonus collab with @docinthewild 😉 Seabather’s Eruption 🐠 Also called sea lice 🐠 Occurs in salt water 🐠 From stings of jellyfish larvae or sea anemone 🐠 Classically affects covered parts of the body 🐠 Treatment: Rinse area off in white vinegar. Then shower, cool compresses and anti-itch lotions as needed (calamine, cortisones) Swimmer’s Itch 🐌 Occurs in fresh water 🐌 From larval schistosomes (cercariae) that infect snails 🐌 Usually favors uncovered parts of the body 🐌 In addition to avoiding contaminated waters, making sure you towel dry completely can help prevent 🐌 Treatment: cool compresses and anti-itch lotions.
