The @cdcgov estimates that 1 in 5 of those who survive meningococcal meningitis will live with long-term complications, including hearing loss, limb amputations, and brain or kidney damage. That’s why it’s so important that pre-teens receive the CDC recommended first dose of the MenACWY vaccine at ages 11 and 12, and the second dose at 16, as well as other important adolescent vaccines, like MenB.
