Have you ever tried a wet balayage service and it ended in disaster? I loveeee wet balayage but there are a few times when it would not be my go-to.
I would not choose wet balayage if:
⚡️I wanted more than 2 levels of lift - I’m being conservative here. COULD you get 3+ levels of lift using a higher developer, more powerful lightener and letting it process for a longer time? Yes. But generally this is a quick process and I am usually achieving about 1-2 levels of lift.
⚡️There’s a lot of dark hair mixed in with blonde - ever done a wet balayage on someone who had a lot of their natural level 5 mixed in with their level 9 blonde ends and that level 5 turned to a really warm, brassy level 7? I only do wet balayage on ends that are more solidly light to begin with. Although it’s not sitting on for long and it’s on the gentler side, it’s still lightener and it’s still strong enough to shift the natural color!
⚡️The hair is super fragile - the water on the hair slightly dilutes the lightener plus it’s usually not processing for long so generally wet balayage could be considered gentler than say, putting the lightener in a foil and letting it process. BUT, it is still lightener, and lightener is not a conditioning service! If the hair is extremely fragile and breaking off and already over processed, skip any sort of lightening and adjust the tones as much as you can with a gloss!
