12 Seasons 250 Episodes I got my first job in the fifth grade. Stuck with that job until the ninth grade. I was a paperboy for my hometown paper, Newsday. I loved that job. Looking back, it’s staggering how many milestones and lessons I learned from that job. Earned my first dollar. Opened my first bank account. Learned to save. Collecting every Friday night was intimidating. I was a shy kid. Learned to overcome those fears... bang on people’s doors and ask them for money! Sunday mornings were the toughest - the papers were huge and I had to be out the door at 6am. If I was late, my customers complained. Too many complaints and I’d be fired. I learned to be accountable. Learned personal responsibility. But most of all, this -- An hour alone on my bike each day after school, slinging papers, is where I learned to daydream. Those daydreams were the beginning of my life as a writer. Today, I’m quoted in my hometown paper, Newsday, for my writing. Full circle. Dream big. Still daydreaming.
