GRIEF-RAGE, HBU?
Here’s the thing(s): it’s about abortion, and it’s not about abortion at all. It’s about giving people equal autonomy to make decisions about their own lives. Period. I don’t want to make important decisions about what’s right for other people; I don’t want them making important decisions for me. And we sure as hell don’t need 6 people (5 of whom don’t have uteruses) making policy about an entire nation of people with uteruses that doesn’t even reflect popular public opinion (between 55-65% of Americans support abortion without restriction). Sure, let’s talk about “activist judges” & “protecting personal *FREEDOM*”...
You know what overturning Roe v Wade really is? It’s a gateway to erasing other constitutional rights we’ve signed into law for women, LGBTQ folks, and who knows who else. If you think I’m exaggerating, read Clarence Thomas’s concurring opinion. Same sex marriage is next on his chopping block. Whose rights are next?
I find it hysterical/enraging that the same people who believe banning guns WON’T stop shootings believe that banning abortions WILL stop abortion. Also the belief that overturning Roe will be the 1st step towards a more mother-friendly culture? WTF have y’all been doing for the last 50(!) years to make that happen? Where are the bills for expanded healthcare, childcare, school lunches, paid maternity/paternity leave, higher education, and on and on!?!? Yes, let’s talk about “PRO-LIFE”...
Sending big love to everyone. Especially people who woke up yesterday and had to restructure their entire lives to try and get an abortion they need (financially, emotionally, physically) or just want, cause they’ve decided that’s what’s right for them.
