tested a few things on drums the other day. which mic is better and which drummer is better? got a pair of josephson e22s, soyuz 1973, and earthworks dm20. i initially said i liked the 1973 on shells the best, but after sitting on the recordings i think the josephson has something really special. transients and low mids are really nice. plus i prefer the bleed on these over the others. soyuz’s sound dope and are significantly cheaper - sound great on amplifiers as well! earthworks were super flat sounding but almost sterile compared to the latter. adrian and louis had a good drum battle. louis said some questionable things on sensitive topics, while adrian just smiled and played the drums like the handsome man he is. adrian + e22s is my favorite combo for drummers.
