Sorry now I’m half utterly mortified posting this because ya know, I dunno*
*runs and hides under nearest duvet utterly mortified
But also feck it and I just wanted to say a big thank you and that this has been a really special week. It’s v surreal to see the book at the top of the children’s fiction chart and I’m trying to think of a pun and I came up with “mysElf on a Shelf”. Cough. Look I may need some kip.
I’m v v grateful for your lovely messages ❤️
Loads of questions about age group etc. So it’s aimed at 9-12 (but like loads of adults reading too so thank you 😅) and absolutely both for girls and boys.
It’s all about Frankie Finkleton who is 11 and one month old who has a dog called Blue with giant eyeballs and tiny nostrils. And a little brother called Fred who is her best friend in the whole world (no one in school can find out about this, little brothers are not meant to be cool. She has a rep to think about and doesn’t want to have to relocate to another part of the country from sheer embarrassment). Frankie also has a huge secret. She is a teensy weensy bit kind of absolutely definitely...magic! She can disappear into an entire world inside her own brain! All the adults think she’s a daydreamer and she spends her days “off in her own world”. little do they know that she does!! It’s a magical adventure land she and Fred (and Blue) can disappear into whenever the Real World gets too serious or boring. Or when a certain breed of “adults” are wondering what exactly is going on with Frankie 👀 Frankie and Fred get caught up in a journey in Thoughtopolis to unlock a mystery to her supposed ‘’missing spark” and some pretty big feelings and to find a very very big secret that has been buried somewhere unknown.
Also thank you to the @irish_examiner today for this lovely review. Okay shall stop now. #shamelessplug
