I’m grateful to feel seen and loved, every day. This is possible because I have people in my life who listen to me, stand up for me, take care of me, protect me, and respect me. To all the trans youth out there— I see you. I love you. I hear you. And I will keep fighting for you. 🏳️⚧️ #transdayofvisibility #tdov #protecttransyouth
Now, more than ever, it is important to understand your role in protecting and fighting for trans lives!
Visibility is not enough. We need safety, legal protections, and basic human rights (such as house and healthcare access) for all. At this moment, as trans lives, particularly the lives of trans youth, are under legislative attack, we must take action. BIPOC trans women and femmes are still getting murdered for walking down the street minding their own business. Visibility is not a choice or option for everyone. Many trans people aren’t visible because it just isn’t safe.
Trans people are here. We have always been here. We aren’t going anywhere.
Trans Day of Visibility is dedicated to celebrating and shining a positive light on the histories, passions, skills, and souls that make up the trans community. Trans Day of Visibility was created by Rachel Crandell, the head of Transgender Michigan, to showcase the achievements of trans people and ways we are thriving, while also sharing knowledge and taking action to fight cissexism and transphobia that are the source of anti-trans violence, discrimination, and health disparities.
