Save the date. ✨ Goodnight Hospitality will be hosting a double-feature wine tasting event with Movia! 🍷 Initially founded in 1820, the Movia winery and estate in Brda (Slovenia) had already become one of Europe’s most famous wineries in the years that followed World War II. Its celebrity was bolstered by the fact that its wines were favorites of Marshal Tito. He ruled over Slovenia and its neighbor Croatia as part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia until 1980. Located in the village of Ceglo in the heart of the Brda appellation (literally a stone’s throw from the Italian border), Movia put Slovenia on the map of the world’s great wine regions in the late 1990s when the interest in wines grown in former Eastern Bloc countries began to flourish. Winemaker Aleš Kristančič leads the current generation of Movia. He is as renowned for his passionate embrace of organic and biodynamic farming practices as he is for his larger-than-life personality and creative approach to winemaking. Today, Aleš primarily grows Rebula, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Pinot Noir — all without using herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides. The Rebula and Pinot Grigio are generally bottled separately, while the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are used in blended wines. ✨ Montrose Cheese & Wine will be hosting a Movia wine & cheese tasting led by winemaker Lan Kristančič & Ethica Wines Regional Manager Niccolo Saltarelli on Wednesday, November 9th at 6 PM. The tasting will include a flight of four Movia wines paired alongside four kinds of cheese & accouterment for $50! ✨ Rosie Cannonball will be hosting its first-ever wine dinner on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:30 PM. This intimate dinner includes a 4-course menu full of seasonal favorites to pair with Lan’s wines, including some special large formats! Tickets are $145 per person, with only 12 seats available!
