My proofs have arrived. This is my second novel, a story told from the perspective of a young Irish woman, Orla Quinn, arriving into London in 2001, with big dreams to make it in music. She has a lot to learn. I have been driving myself demented these last few weeks, having a total crisis of confidence about this book. I’ve been writing notes to send with the proofs to various other writers, and the reality that the book is going out to the world, to other people’s opinions and emotions is excruciating. I thought it would be easier the second time! Fellow writers! Does it ever get easier? It’s time to read it in book form and see how it makes me feel.
