⛩️ 🙇🏻‍♀️ how to pray at a Japanese Shinto shrine Visiting Shinto shrines (Jinja) is one of my favorite things to do in Japan, and the odds are you’ll visit a lot of them while here!!! Shinto shrines are easy to spot with beautiful torii gates which are these: ⛩️ You don’t have to pray if you don’t want to, but if you choose to participate (or observe) here’s what you need to know!! 1️⃣ toss your money offering. Usually a ¥5 or ¥50 yen coin (less than 🇺🇸$0.40) 5 is good luck! 2️⃣ Bow twice 3️⃣ Clap twice 4️⃣ pray and final deep bow 🙇🏻‍♀️ It’s okay to participate as long as you’re respectful of your surroundings, and not in the way of others praying.
