Untangling to Reveal Chilean-born Cecilia Vicuña is one of Latin America’s most celebrated artists. Her most ambitious work yet is currently being shown at the Tate Modern - a multi-part installation made up of sculpture, sound, music and video. At the centre of Brain Forest Quipu - an ancient South American recording and communication system made from knotted threads - are two sculptures that hang from the ceiling woven together using materials collected from the River Thames by three London-based Latina artists and activists. We talk to Soraya Fernández, Patricia Bidi and Siomara Giraldo about collaborating on a work that asks us to think about the destruction of our environment and how we can come together to begin a process of repair.
