I'm so honoured to have been a part of the first issue of @circlezeroeight and even more so to be included in @ryan_zaman's feature on how adaptive fashion is invaluable for everyone 💓
When I first started modelling I didn't know if I'd be able to work much due to the limitations of my disability, one of which is an inability to wear high heels. I thought of all the ugly shoes I had to wear in primary school to accommodate my orthotic insoles and how embarrassed I was of them, and worried I'd be too difficult for stylists if I couldn't wear what they wanted.
Reading Ryan's article for this shoot, he begins with a retelling of his first experience with adaptive design in the form of orthotics, and how doctors would dress them up with pictures of cars to try and make them fun for a 4-year-old. It immediately brought me back to my own pair, lovingly nicknamed 'Teddy Legs' by my parents for the teddy bear pattern I had chosen for them. Seeing this editorial in print brings my inner 4-year-old so much joy, as does the amazing work @tcurin & @lacoste have done to create their adaptive sportswear line.
