After years of performing in dingy clubs, piss stained bars and stale offices, I got signed to a major label as a solo artist in 2002...i made an entire record from my heart with some of the best songwriters and producers in the world at that time. I ended up getting dropped before the record even came out. I will never forget this time and everything it took to get to that moment. I will never forget the session for this song with one of my mentors @billymann ...i had a diary, he grabbed a guitar, told me to open up my diary and sing while he played....it was the first time i realized how important authenticity, honesty and ease is when writing a song. Even though getting dropped, broke and thrown out on the New York City street seemed like hell on earth at that time, it lit a fire under my ass to succeed and i will never fucking forget the people that shaped me and helped me become a better writer, artist and poet.
