From 1976 to 1983, a bloodthirsty war was waged by the Argentine right-wing military. 30,000 Argentinians were executed, tortured or disappeared. At only 32, Luis Moreno Ocampo (photographed here by @patmartin__) was tasked with prosecuting the generals responsible for the state-sponsored terror. It was the largest trial of living war criminals since Nuremberg. Last night, a film about him and the trials (Argentina,1985) won the @goldenglobes award for Best Non-English Language Film. From 2003 to 2012, Ocampo was the founding lead prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, taking down dictators and war criminals across the globe. Read the interview in our Losing My Religion issue, on stands now. Argentina, 1985 is streaming now on Amazon.
