After 3 years, I finally have a recipe for the Spiced Apple Cider Braised Pork! Featuring the seasonal Spiced Cider & Apple Cider Fruit Spread from #TraderJoes 🙌🏾. Can you guess which ingredient that made the difference is? 💜 #BGITJ #BlackGirlsInTraderJoes - Bowls, cutting board & braiser all from @dacy_dash 🤎 - Here’s what you need: -3lbs pork “butt” shoulder [I think turkey could be substituted here] -3 tsp @diamondcrystalsalt -1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper -1tsp fresh ground nutmeg -1/2tsp cayenne pepper -1tsp cumin -1tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice -1tsp cloves -2 bay leaves 1 1/2c Trader Joe’s Spiced Cider -1/3c orange juice -3 small cinnamon sticks -1 jar Apple Cider Fruit Spread -2 medium russet potatoes -Vegetable oil What to do: 1. Preheat oven to 350oF 2. Mix ground spices in a bowl & generously rub on pork, pierce the pork with a knife, then set aside 3. Roughly chop potatoes & set aside 4. In a Dutch Oven or braiser, add 3tbsp of a vegetable oil & turn on medium heat 5. Brown all sides of the pork for 2-3 minutes on each side & remove from the heat 6. Add entire jar of Apple Cider Fruit Spread over pork 7. Add potatoes, cloves, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, cloves, Spiced Cider & orange juice 8. Cover & place in oven 9. Baste pork with the liquid every 30 minutes 10. Remove when internal temperature is 155oF 11. Use braising 2-3c of liquid & 1-2tbsp of cornstarch to make gravy in separate pot whisking until desired consistency
