I can’t sleep! joy is here! my mother and I will be saying no 2 APEC! Join us on Sunday 11.12 @ 12p. We will also still be inviting folks to join us the following day 11.13 @ 7p in the little Roxie. though we may not be as prepared or comfortable in the share as we’d hoped to be (whatever that means lol), taking time to be in solidarity together is just as much IF NOT MORESO the work. On Monday - a few other thoughts: We offer our words and songs and questions as invitations to feel, reimagine, reflect. We will do our best to hold the event in a way that recognizes the interconnectedness of our struggles against imperialism colonialism and military occupation — not conflating it as sameness, but grieving the patterns that stretch across time and place. We also hope to nourish and feed (literally) our friends and loved ones with care, presence, dumplings and milk tea ; as fuel for us all to be able to continue showing up with our hearts open and steadfast towards liberation. tbh, I feel totally at a new edge in writing these words in this time of chaos grief and genocide - so please reach out via text or dm if you want to talk more or lmk how this lands. It feels hard/complex to attempt weaving these threads together and not just turn away from creative practice… but I want to believe they’re not actually in opposition.
