Ntsiki and Aslina have been one of the first black wines and she is one of the first black female producers we carried. To say we have been a fan would be an understatement! Kristen has had the opportunity to visit South Africa on many occasions (y’all know that girl likes to travel ✈️ ) and sings the praises of Ntsiki. To have her visit our hometown of RVA & around VA the last couple of days was an absolute treat. Ntsiki came through in the flesh with love and humbleness. We laughed! We talked past, present, and future of, not only wine and the culture revolving around it but just life. We shared stories, and I learned so much more behind the powerhouse that is Aslina Wines. It was terrific to hear her story of how she got to where she is today. We geeked about her favorite food of, oxtails; we talked about Calabash - clay pots originally used to make African beer. We talked about the language of IsiZulu and how in her first year of college at Stellenbosch University, English language was something that she had to learn before she could even begin to study chemical engineering and wine making. (Think about that 😮‍💨) It was a pleasure Ntsiki. We can’t wait to see you back in RVA soon. You owe me a ride in the @subaru_usa ! Special thanks to @salvetoimports for hooking her VA trip up! Cheers to the freakin’ weekend RichWine Fam! 🙌🏾
