After a wild couple of months in Guyana, one of which was at an extraordinary cowboy ranch at the edge of the rainforest, I’m back in South Africa- one of my favorite places. When I left Africa last, I was a production manager. This time, I am a supervising producer for @discovery. When I was a kiddo, I wanted to be a film producer when I grew up. Before I slid into the music industry, that was my dream. Once COVID-19 hit, the live music industry was wiped out- along with my career that I had been developing for over a decade. After a stint of unemployment, under-the-table construction work and gut wrenching depression, I pivoted from music back into film and started working as a production assistant. After a couple of shoots, I was promoted to production coordinator. After another shoot, I was promoted to production manager. As a PM I was able to travel for work to extraordinary places all around the world that I never even dreamed of visiting, such as South Africa, Zambia, Costa Rica, and Guyana. I am looking forward to continuing to learn and grow as a producer, it is a dream come true. So much love to everyone that’s been a part of this journey, you know who you are. 📸: @p.dupree
