Calling my fellow bird nerds! I found our happy place, and it is the Hummingbird Habitat at the San Diego Zoo! 🦜🐦‍⬛ *sound on so you can meet my new spirit animal - the Screaming Piha.* 😂 Tucked away in a corner of the zoo is this enclosed aviary where the birds fly freely around you. They have over a dozen different types of bird in every color of the rainbow, they only allow a limited number of people in at a time so you never feel crowded or rushed, there are benches where you can sit and stay as long as you’d like, a staffer on hand to answer your questions - but the most fun was seeing how much joy it brought other people and knowing I am not alone in my bird obsession! 😍 Does this make me an old lady? Maybe. Did the sights and sounds feed my soul? Sure did. And when this cute little gray bird sauntered on up to me and serenaded me with her gentle song 😂 I knew I’d found my bestie. The @sandiegozoo is amazing, but the Hummingbird Habitat is something special. Would love to know if you’ve been!
