‘Frozen eggs’ is my third-born. More commonly known as ‘Florence’. This is still making me giggle. Laughter is such therapy for me. In the pandemic we dug around for funny stuff - we sent funny memes and scrolled on here to seek giggles. Days after my sister died, my brother and I rolled down the grassy banks of the graveyard in the evening sunshine. Laughing as we stumbled around with moss and sticks in our hair. These weren’t funny times in life. We didn’t laugh in denial, but for respite, relief and release. We laughed to feel other feelings than the concern, uncertainty, grief or anxiety that sat as the undercurrent. To experience the wider richness of human emotion, even if for a moment, as life teetered down the one end of the scale. They say life is a rollercoaster. But I like to think of it more as a track that crosses over and weaves and winds together. Where the good and bad, easy and hard, joyful and worrying can co-exist if we allow them to. Anyway, I didn’t mean to get philosophical on here! I did an episode of The Therapy Edit with @scummymummies about laughter exploring just this. Laughter releases endorphins and relieves stress. It finds you present and boosts happiness with serotonin. Where do you go to laugh?? Tag some below for us to find. I laugh at myself often. Not in a mean way, but in a kind, knowing way in place of the criticism that I used to respond to myself with! If you watch my stories, you’ll find I have many reasons to giggle. Some of my fave sources of fun - @tadhg_fleming Tv shows like ‘Here We Go’ and obviously @gavinandstaceytv @victoriaemes @knee_deep_in_life @mum_and_a_mic @kids_and_the_commute @mamastillgotit_ @elliejanetaylor @life_with_ivycoco @daddownload @notsosmugnow @manversusbaby @rosemarinoramsey
