Drawn from four years of research and interviews with over 100 women, @NewshaTavakolian’s haunting film For the Sake of Calmness (2020) centers on the experience of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and the more severe premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The film's long, almost dream-like shots of landscapes and people, paired with Tavakolian's guiding monologue winding throughout, succeed in conveying a range of complex and amorphous emotions.
See the film for yourself at ICP before January 9. Find more info through link in bio.
