A #MonsteraMonday read + repotting, DAHLING 🪴 I’ve always been curious about Ms. Monstera Peru as she always struck me as quite different from other monstera varieties. So it was not too surprising to find that this green gurl may actually not be of the Monstera genus. Opens up a lovely pathway to various possibilities in answering, “well, who is she?” Is she a UNIQUE (@Beyoncé voice) monstera, a FABULOUS variety of philodendron, or perhaps something else all together? Either way this green gurl is gorgeous, resilient, and a lovely addition to any plant fam CARE TIPS, HUNNY ☀️ A tropical understory kind of green gurl and with her dark green leaves, jam packed with chlorophyll, this kween is well equipped to capture sunlight in lower light conditions. North facing windows would actually be the perfect scene for this green lil kween, or any other sish that allows for bright filtered light throughout the day. Avoid locations that receive direct sunlight as the thick leaves of the monstera Peru are easily susceptible to sunburn and scorching. 💩 As an epiphyte, the monstera peru does best in rich, airy, well-draining soil. A mixture of two parts potting soil, one part orchid bark, one part perlite, and 1/2 part compost fertilizer provides the perfect amount of drainage, moisture retention, and nutritional content for these monsteras. 💧 The thick leaves of this kween make this monstera species more drought tolerant than many other monsteras, and the soil should be allowed to dry out completely between waterings. Sitting in wet soil for too long could eventually send this kween to that lil botanical garden in the sky as she is susceptible to root rot. 🌱 @heyhorti 🪴 @cleancutmosaics Plant tarp: @welcometothejunglehome
