Headaches & Neck Mobility
Have you experienced headaches with neck pain? You may have a cervicogenic headache.
These types of headaches restrict neck movement - especially rotation - and cause pain at the head, neck, shoulder, and arm.
The joints at the top of the neck can become compromised due to posture, muscle tension, fatigue, and weakness.
The cervical flexion rotation test (CFRT) is a movement test dedicated to detecting mobility restriction at the neck, and determining if your headache is coming from the joints at the top of the neck.
Our therapists use special tests during your comprehensive assessment to ensure your body receives the attention and care it deserves.

📚 For those wanting to learn more, the two joints associated with CGH are the:
1️⃣ Atlanto-occipital joint (C0-C1 region), responsible for 1/3rd of bending the head forward and back.
2️⃣ Atlanoaxial joint (C1-C2 region), responsible for more than 50% of neck rotation.
Restricted movement of these joints can lead to headaches, and referred pain down the head, neck, shoulder, and arm.
The cervical flexion rotation test is a highly sensitive and specific test dedicated to testing the mobility of the C1-C2 region, and detecting CGHs.
