It has been a magical year for our family. We witnessed our daughter learn to read—and fall in love with books and libraries in 2022. Full of gratitude for all the librarians, creators, educators, commentators, organizers, caregivers, booksellers, and school board members who defended our young readers—and their books and their libraries—from the sexist, racist, antisemitic, transphobic, and homophobic book banners this year. Many thanks for defending those readers in your community, this new reader in our home (who right now is digging books with rainbow magic). 🌈🙏🏾
