SYMPOSIUM TICKETS available only until 10/20!
Join us at the Radicchio Symposium to learn a ton about our favorite bitter green from experienced Italian and North American growers including radicchio breeder and @smarties.bio cofounder Andrea Ghedina coming to us all the way from Padua, Italy.
I met Andrea in Italy in 2014 (2nd photo) when he worked for T&T Seeds and am excited to welcome him to our PNW radicchio community to share and learn together. Andrea’s favorite radicchio type is Verona and he enjoys a coffee break. We are very grateful to Andrea for teaching us so much about radicchio which has allowed us to bring you the best information we can at this Symposium, in the Radicchio Zine and through social media. It is his high quality seed we now have in the US through the Gusto Italiano Project at @uprising.seeds
Andrea will lead two presentations:
(1) Radicchio Types - Andrea will walk us through radicchio type by type to share its history and growing specifics.
(2) Radicchio Storage - Andrea will share how to successfully harvest and long store radicchio like a pro Italian grower!
This first Radicchio Symposium will be a full day exploration into chicory including sessions on radicchio history & culture, variety selection, production, storage, forcing methods and marketing. Sessions will be led by experienced Italian and North American radicchio growers and sellers.
WHEN: 10/27 9am-6pm
WHERE: @reddonsalmon in Portland, OR
WHO: open to the public, but geared toward radicchio growers, buyers, and sellers.
TICKETS: $40 at the link in bio (includes pastries from @sweedeedeepdx and lunch from @tamaleboypdx ).
Symposium made possible by a WSDA grant. Organized by CBN, @chicoryweek and @wsufoodsystems
