Mama, when spending time on yourself, do you struggle with staying present?⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I do! 🙋🏿‍♀️⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ My endless to do list is always in the back of my mind, and it loves to creep up when I’m alone... ie planning the family’s dinner menu when I’ve planned to journal⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ So until this past summer, all the things that helped me stay sane:⁠⁠ 🌱 Journaling⁠⁠ 🌱 Working out⁠⁠ 🌱 Lit showers⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Were not always relaxing. I started thinking maybe, I’m doing this self-care thing wrong 😩⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ However, when I visited my mom back in the spring and took a break from my family duties, performing the same self-care tasks felt soooo much better, It was much easier to focus, stay present, and give all my attention to the task at hand, probably because I wasn’t worrying about all that I have to do ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ So now that I am home, and have all of my obligations back, aka my family, I’m actively working on ways to stay present when taking care of me:⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ ✨ l actually tell myself don’t worry, God got you, you will figure this out, it just doesn't have to be now⁠⁠ ✨ I plan out the girls and my days, beforehand⁠⁠ ✨ I treat my me time as sacred and try to create rituals around them -------> This one was fueled by this book “The Power of Ritual: Turning Everyday Activities into Soulful Practices by @caspertk_, (Shout out to @mylifeisabeach for the recommendation) ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Anyway, do you struggle with staying present?
