HUGE thank you to the Ozark Highlands Trail for such an amazing trip! 36 crazy miles with tons of stream crossings, lots of elevation gain, one tricky river crossing, and we didn’t see a person (other than those in our group) for three days! This group from the Washburn Running and Outdoor Adventure Club (@wroac) did a phenomenal job coming physically and mentally prepared to grind it out, helping out where needed, always being willing to learn, and keeping a GREAT attitude the whole time! It was such a blessing to take this group out and get more guiding experience under my belt. The big lesson this time was route finding through a river that may or may not be passable. This was no job my friends. After testing out some places that were too deep, a more shallow spot was found with a sturdy fallen tree to get us part of the way out and we were able to safely make it across. Grateful to be able to take this new knowledge and experience with me on future trips! Can’t wait to get back out there and continue improving my backpacking skills!
