The rise and fall of the sea level, caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the moon, the sun, and the rotation of the Earth, is the rhythm of nature itself.
Offering an opportunity to observe these ever-changing rhythms of our nature, the new tidal installation at Traelvikosen, Norway, also offers visitors an opportunity to slow down, tune in, and reconnect to nature's rhythms.
Through the Norwegian Scenic Routes program, our client, Norwegian Public Roads Administration (#statensvegvesen), has established a series of experiences for road travellers across the country. Along selected roads in Norway, natural wonders are amplified by art, design, and architecture, offering thought-provoking creative expression in spectacular scenery. The selected roads run through landscapes with unique natural qualities, along coasts and fjords, mountains, and waterfalls, and are intended as alternatives to the main roads. As a result, the initiative has made a wide range of lesser-known areas more available to the public - to explore, experience, and enjoy.
In 2022, Snøhetta’s design at Traelvikosen is one of eleven new architectural projects opened as part of the new Scenic Route project series.
Welcome for a visit – take the time to tune in.
