I wanted to take a moment to address the US Supreme Court's decision to end the constitutional right to abortion, overturning its 50-year-old Roe v Wade verdict. This tragic error has stripped away safe, legal reproductive rights for millions of women. I have seen firsthand the dire consequences of restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, and this ruling threatens the health of all American women. Before Elvie, my work at Marie Stopes International—the largest global private provider of women’s sexual and reproductive health services—highlighted the necessity of healthcare freedom. Now, we watch as women’s rights are set back decades, back to a time when women died due to a lack of reproductive rights. Women who do not have time or money to travel to states without restrictions may resort to other means, even if it’s illegal. So, of course, one of the first policies we will be enacting to safeguard our people is covering the expenses of employees who need to travel for safe reproductive care, all with the assurance of complete privacy.
