The Need for a Public Speaking Palate Cleanser
In fine dining, the sorbet course isn’t dessert. It’s a reset. It clears the palate so you can fully savor what’s next.
Public speaking works the same way. Our brains can’t handle nonstop information. Without intentional resets, even the most brilliant talk gets lost.
That’s why I always build palate cleansers into my keynotes, workshops, and presentations. And just like fine dining, each one has its own flavor:
🕺 The Animator – Mango-Chili Sorbet
Movement shifts energy. My Sacúdete, Menéate, Agáchate merengue routine wakes audiences up—even at 9:15AM after a late-night party. Sweet mango + spicy chili = the flavor of aliveness.
🧘♂️ The Integrator – Lemon Sorbet
Give people a moment to reflect and write. A crisp reset for introverts and deep thinkers. Lemon clears the mental clutter so ideas land.
🫂 The Connector – Strawberry Sorbet
Partner shares turn insights into conversation. Strawberry is bright and inviting—the flavor you want to share.
These palate cleansers disrupt the pattern, reset attention, and make your message stick.
Next time you design a talk, think like a chef: don’t just serve course after course. Plan the palate cleansers.
Now tell me: What’s a palate cleanser you’ve used—or experienced—that reset the room? Or just spill… what’s your favorite sorbet flavor? 🍓🍋🥭
