After many moons of hearty procrastination, I’m excited to announce that I’ve finally launched a newsletter on Substack 🎖️✍️🌟 Allow me to introduce you to “Heart Dustings.” For the last year or two, I have been looking for a place to share my taste, tales, and adventures more widely as I love helping friends with tips and am frequently asked for recommendations (ie: ‘How do I learn more about the cool globe maker you did a story on in London?’ or ‘What are your favorite restaurants in Paris?’ Or ‘Where would you stay in Cusco, Peru?’) This seemed like a fun outlet to answer those questions, while casting light on the fascinating people I’ve met, places I’ve been, and stories I’ve written (including many that never made it to publication.) The name, Heart Dustings, came from the title of an essay I read by Alex Lemon in graduate school at Johns Hopkins years ago. Needless to say, the work stayed with me and made a lasting impression. When titling this project I couldn’t think of any moniker more fitting than those two words together, which capture my motive: to sprinkle my stories and many different interests into these personal posts, like fairy dust (or heart dust — see what I’m doing there?!) You can expect once (or occasionally twice) monthly dispatches complete with savvy interviews from cool creatives, thoughtful travel guides to places near and far, musings on the writing world, with some curated finds, and passionate conversations about art, style, creativity, books, food, and more.
