“May I love in ways that devastatingly disrupt state violence.” - Gabes Torres You might’ve noticed your Instagram feed turning to 50% or more strangers’ Reels, trying desperately to turn itself into TikTok. They admitted to it the other day, as the @washingtonpost reported, saying that people spend more time looking at random videos, and more time with more eyes = more ads sold = more money made. You do you, but definitely don’t feel pressure to jump on a bandwagon cause it’s the same age old Capitalist tale: you work your ass off in a way you think helps you or someone else, but ultimately just makes the rich richer. What do we really want in this time of division & disconnect? I loved the early days when this place felt like community, found family connecting in important ways. That still exists here, and I stick around for it. Whoever can get inside the system & use it to break itself apart for a better outcome: please do your punk as fuck. I wanna see AI who learn kindness & love (rather than the hateful racist asshats we’ve seen). I wanna see an Internet that blooms into a blaze of flowers, IRL. I wanna see flowers overtake the mountains so that we look like bouquets from space. (That’s about unseating power, btw.) I quit Twitter years back leaving, “Too earnest for Twitter,” as my last note. I’ve given over to the fact that I’m earnest & honest & precious, and I’m okay with it. “If they say love is all I did — no I won’t regret it, I won’t regret a thing.” Ps Virginia summers are perfect. This is my Gram’s dog my mom adopted after Gram passed. Storms pass; the light turns; catch it whenever you can. 💛 📷 by @greenspringswriter
