Turning 40 is wild - Another medical procedure is getting me closer to some answers about what's going on with me. Surgery was a success, and I'm currently on my way home to get some 💤. I never sleep well the night before these things. My team found a few minor things, but it sounds like I'm going to be okay. Weeks before my 40th, both doctors gave me a double C word scare. I didn't tell many because, frankly, I wasn't trying to borrow anyone else's projections, traumatic stories about their deceased aunt or anything in between. You can know that people mean well AND can acknowledge that sometimes people unintentionally say hurtful things. I'm at a place where I am selective about what I share in real time. You can be transparent, protect your energy, and acknowledge that not everyone is qualified to be your support crew. As always, special thanks to my hubby for being by my side and to my close friends and fam who knew and kept me in good humor - especially those good old-fashioned dark jokes. Please spare your lectures about taking it easy. As a chronically ill baddie, I know more than many on what to do and how to honor my body. I WILL be back in the gym tomorrow because that's what I do, and most importantly, the people who make those decisions green lit me for it. If you decide to offer advice, I'm gonna take it as you're trying to centering yourself. 🫠🤷🏾‍♀️ I appreciate you all.
