Henry Swanson’s (b. 1993) @henry___swanson artistic practices consist of both two and three dimensional works Swanson is fascinated with themes of futility, de-valuation, non sequiturs, and the ambiguity and understanding of cultural luxury. Swanson’s work delves into the subject matter of the culture he grew up in– not being exposed to fine arts or museums and utilizes the poetry of twentieth century cartoon comedy to access a type of humor that strives to transcend verbal language. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Currently on view at SIAB, presented by Anthony Gallery in partnership with Rebuild Foundation.
