Tips for in person interviews/away rotations With interviews for fellowship up and running, it makes me reflect on things I did or things I could have done better. 🤓 Keep note of questions you want to ask about cases and save some for the end of the day. - In a busy clinic/in front of patients it may not always be appropriate to pause and ask questions. Most attendings will ask you later on if you have any questions. Have them ready for then. 🤓 Being kind to EVERYONE is a given, but this includes being upbeat with the patients. - The staff and attendings will notice whether you make the patients more nervous or feel more at ease. 🤓 Even though virtual interviews will be in more of a classic interview format, still be prepared to answer those same questions in person. - Often the attending will make time for just the two of you to talk, which is when many of the standard interview questions come up (i.e., academic/private, research interests, what can you bring to the fellowship, 10 year plan, etc) 🤓 Number 1 tip is to be helpful - even the “little” things. - I got lots of comments afterwards noting how helpful I was. Not only is it just a nice thing to do, but it also shows you can anticipate. Good luck to all the candidates!! 🫶
