To ensure equality of opportunity, all people—regardless of their ability, gender, race, or background—must have access to promising jobs with the possibility of growth. But rarely is this the case for people with criminal records who all too often face barriers like discriminatory application questions and trade license restrictions. That’s why we partnered with Blue Meridian Partners and the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies to create the Justice and Mobility Fund. Thanks to an initial investment of $250 million, this philanthropic collaboration works to boost the economic mobility of those involved with the criminal justice system. At the pandemic’s peak in 2020, the fund’s investment in @CEOWorks helped provide access to financial resources to 10,000 people returning home from prison and jail in 26 cities. Through fair chance hiring and job placement programs, CEO Works is showing companies how they can serve as agents of change, providing a path toward economic mobility for people with criminal records.
