Wishing y’all a better New Year! Here are the 6 sewing/cosplay projects I worked on in 2020 and 2021. I worked on some really cool collaborations, and some were for myself. I didn’t feel like talking about my sewing stuff at the end of last year, so I’m covering projects from both years now. Since it seems people like when I share my experiences and processes, I’ll be making separate posts that will go into detail about each project I did! So, from top to bottom, left to right: ⭐️ February 2020: I made a cosplay of Alice’s Denial dress from #americanmcgees new/upcoming game #aliceasylum ⭐️ March 2020: I designed and made a #blackpanther inspired dress for an event. ⭐️ April 2020: A classmate who is now a doctor needed some masks at the beginning of the pandemic for staff at his hospital, so I made 40(?) of them as requested. ⭐️ July 2020: I participated in a collaborative project with 60-70 other alumni designers to create the Her Universe Fashion Show unity quilt that was gifted to Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein. (My quilt square is on the top row, third from the right). ⭐️ April-June 2021: @kristisiedowthompson designed something that will be shown on TV next year(?), and was kind enough to grab me as a seamstress to help bring this piece to life. We also collaborated with @cynthiakirkland and Casey Roach on this project. Since it’s NDA, have a picture of Hank modeling a small piece :) ⭐️ December 2021: After not sewing a garment for myself for almost two years, I made a San Lang cosplay from Heaven Official’s Blessing. ❤️❤️❤️ —————————— Sewing took a backseat to everything else in my life starting in 2019, and this continued into 2020 and 2021, so I am really thankful that people didn’t forget about me. I’m grateful for each project and collaboration I was able to participate in. Even so, most things I made these two years were heavily influenced and made more difficult by Covid-19. Sometimes, artists and creators hide the challenges that they faced, and it can be demoralizing when you as the audience believe everything went smoothly. I would prefer to be transparent about my challenges. I’ll talk about them in each project’s post.
