I recently put this work (2019) in the corner of my room, where I look directly at it when I lie on my bed on my left side, as I always do. I think the best places to put artworks are where you inadvertently study them for longer stretches of time than you normally would; here by the bed, above the stove, back of the toilet door. Anyway it’s been nice sitting with this after having it in storage for years. I used to think the tassels were like nipple pasties, and the work as a whole, kind of erotic/bodily, but after being sick in bed the past few days, it’s reminding me more of The Grudge or Samara from The Ring...scary dripping black eyes. But also sexy and fab. This was the beginning of my upholstery vibes!!
