I hate the term 'mental illness' and you should too.... Today is World Mental Health Day, but being a Psychiatrist for 40 years I think it should be World Brain Health Day. Being diagnosed with a mental illness or psychiatric disorder taints or stains everyone who struggles with perceived issues or the mind, making them less likely to ever seek help for fear of being diminished in the eyes of others. No one wants to be labeled as defective or abnormal but everyone wants a better brain. What if mental health was really brain health?
