This past Sunday, I ran the LA Marathon for @miryslist to raise money for recently arrived Afghan refugees. I am deeply grateful to everyone who donated to the fundraising campaign. Because of your generosity, we were able to raise $16,781.69, surpassing our original goal of $10,000! Playing ‘Al’ on @usofalcbs has been the greatest honor of my career and portraying an Afghan interpreter on the show has been, and continues to be, a privilege. So your kindness in helping me raise money to aid Afghan refugees who’ve arrived in the United States with little to nothing having fled the threat of oppression, violence and persecution means the absolute world to me. Your donations will provide the essentials these families need to start over in a new country as well as a community support system to connect to and be embraced by. Thank you to @miryslist for affording me the opportunity to partner with them and for the tremendous work that they do. Thank you to my wife for her love and support and the sacrifices she made so that I could train for 18 weeks. To my daughter who doesn’t yet know the motivation she provided during the hardest moments of the race.
