As I leave this place today for what might be the final time, I am reminded of one of the first things Flash told me my first summer. He said this is the best job you will ever have. And it’s crazy to think how true that statement really is. I always joke saying that NaCoMe is a second home for me, but it truly is. So many memories from such a young age are at this place. And then when I became older and could start to think about the world differently, this place is where I learned about Jesus and realized that I wanted to know Jesus as more than just a figure, I wanted a relationship with him. And when I did have that relationship, this place was always one where I could strengthen it and remember why I believe in God. These past 3 summers I had the amazing opportunity to give that same experience I had as a camper to the next generation of campers. Being able to lead a group of 14 kids through an amazing week and also having meaningful faith conversations with them is something that I don’t think will ever be topped by any job I ever have. But this job wouldn’t be the same without the counselors around me. From the counselors who I have known since we were born to the ones that I met when the summer started they all made this job so incredibly amazing. The endless number of laughs at micos while sharing stories of the crazy things the kids come up with made every Friday dinner one that I thoroughly looked forward to. Each year I come in with incredibly high expectations that I thought couldn’t possibly be reached, and somehow every single year those expectations were blown out of the water. All the different ways that we would get each other to smile and laugh even when we knew that the freezer would have some friends in it at the next meal. It is a feeling that you just can’t explain, you have to have gone through what we went through to truly understand. But like I said earlier, Flash once said this is the best job I will ever have, and if this is the last time I work here, I want to add a couple things to that statement. This is the best job I will ever have, with the best bosses I will ever have, and the best coworkers I will ever have.
