ALPINE GUIDES' DAY. #MontBlancFamily Every 15th of August, are celebrated the Alpine Guides, those who accompany us and allow us with their competence to realize our highest dreams. The @guidealpinecourmayeur Society, founded in 1850, is the first Association of Alpine Guides in Italy and the second in the world. A real pride for Monte Bianco and its inhabitants. In the vitage photo, there are the Alpine Guides who participated at the installation of the Madonnina at Giant's Tooth, in 1904. The statue resisted until 1958, when a lightning made it fall to the base of the Giant's Tooth. Today the statue is kept in the church of Nôtre Dame de la Guerison, in Val Veny. The statue then was replaced by a wooden one one and in 1960 by an aluminum copy. The current bronze Madonnina was carried on the shoulder and relocated at the summit in 2010 by the Alpine Guides Society of Courmayeur, after being blessed on the terrace of Punta Helbronner by the parish priest of Entrèves. From generation to generation the Courmayeur Alpine Guides are witnesses of alpine culture and mountaineering history based on simple, genuine values and a great passion for the territory.
