Just going to leave this here for a bit and also say... These last few years have been really weird. Something happened in the last 2 years where it became almost impossible to publicly share your thoughts or ideas if it was counter to the popular opinion. God forbid you asked questions about things we all know made absolutely no sense. I’m personally very proud of the fact that lauryn and I never caved to that kind of pressure. We just kept doing our thing like we’ve always done. No regard to how it made others feel about us. Want to know why? Here’s why: How others feel about us based on what they hear us say on our show is none of our business. That’s their business. It’s also each individuals responsibility to guard how they feel and protect their own headspace. I wish more people with platforms would share what they actually think and say behind closed doors. I have the privilege of not only speaking to many people with platforms on a large public platform but also behind closed doors. It’s always a disappointment for me personally when I meet people who say one thing publicly and another thing privately (unfortunately that’s the majority). I get it though... people are terrified of alienating themselves from the group. Terrified of losing jobs or revenue. Terrified that they may receive backlash for saying something other people disagree with (god forbid!). To those people I would say the pendulum always swings. One day you are on the side of popular opinion, the next day you aren’t. Staying true to yourself is always the best long term strategy. I’ve always been unwilling to change who I am to appease someone else. I value that above everything. If I can’t be exactly who I am what’s the point of it all? I am proud of the fact that we personally never used our platforms or our companies to force someone else to change who they are. It’s a huge relief to me to be able to look back on this time and tell my children “daddy didn’t turn into a fucking whack job when most did.” How’s that for your daily inspiration?! 🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️
