Always inspired by their surroundings in the United Arab Emirates, the Lumiere Collective designed the experimental video project “Amorphous” to follow a mind suspended between the states of dream and wakefulness. The film was projected on a screen suspended from the ceiling, and visitors watched from a bed below. The artists—filmmaker Swapna Kurup and dancer Shereen Saif—have worked together in the UAE for a decade after bonding over similar ethnic roots, hailing from the state of Kerala, India. As part of the majority-expat population in the UAE, they aim to transcend language and bridge communities through art.
