Sag season may be over, but I will continue to celebrate life because it is a gift. It is a privilege to see another year, and I do not take that lightly. I was born prematurely. I came into this world at 6 months, which means I existed 3 months outside of the womb. My parents have always told me that “I fought to be here” because I literally did. In my family birthdays are a big celebration, even if we only have cake and ice cream. We believe that life is precious and can be fragile. We deserve to celebrate every solar return and every accomplishment. We deserve to be surrounded by loved ones. Everyday we fight through the chaos around us to preserve our peace and to find our joy. That in itself is difficult,but we’re doing it and that is enough. As I reflect on this last year, I am calling it my “awakening” because I can “see” now. Last year two days after my birthday I learned that I have ADD due to my entrance into the world. I am neurodiverse. Since then I have been rediscovering myself. I can see my obstacles in real time and I’m learning how to turn them into super powers. I’m a fucking super hero! 💪🏽 This last year has been my most rewarding and challenging year yet. I am so grateful for my framily, my community and support system. I’m grateful for my wife and the deeper connections I’ve been nurturing through out the year. I know that I may not always physically get to link up w/ some of y’all but I’m grateful for every attempt at sending love. There’s only one direction to go from here and that’s up.
