This original DISCO 3000 mix is almost 15 years old but you can now stream it on @applemusic in full HD audio. Originally recorded in 2008 at home using decks, my Cat Octave synth and a @korgofficial Stage Echo, I put this together to remind myself of what I loved about dance music, it's hypnotic and psychedelic qualities and otherworldliness. At the time I felt this was needed as my Dj sets were becoming quite energised and relentless, fuelled by endless gigs, gigantic audiences and alcohol. I felt like I needed to escape myself a little and this mix is a result of that. Shortly after, I started playing shows focusing on just disco like the records used in this mix all around the world, choosing smaller rooms where I could re-connect with myself as a Dj. In some ways it’s one of the reasons I still love DJing and perhaps why i’m still doing what I do. Writing this all out feels quite strange and it some ways quite obvious, but back then I could have gone further down a certain road and possibly burnt out.
