Day one of such a dream trip with Nespresso Origins! We started the morning driving out to the coffee farm and got to learn about the history of coffee in Indonesia and meet the farmers and their families. We learned the coffee grows on shorter trimmed trees and ripens into red “coffee cherries”. We spent the afternoon having an amazing lunch on the farm then got the chance to pick some cherries. Then we headed to the wet mill to process the coffee. They put the cherries through a mill that separates the interior bean from the shell. They rinse the beans and let them ferment overnight. Raw coffee is surprisingly smelly and slimey. We tried some of their delicious coffee Zuzu which is coffee with sweetened condensed milk and headed back!
